When is CEREC recommended?

The CEREC system is indicated for replacing weakened or destroyed tooth structures, particularly in the following cases:

  • Deep decay has damaged the tooth;
  • A cracked or fractured tooth needs to be restored;
  • An existing restoration (amalgam, filling) needs to be replaced;
  • A tooth has been treated with root canal therapy and needs to be reinforced with a crown;
  • Cosmetic reasons (e.g., veneers) warrant a targeted procedure.

CEREC restorations are custom-designed to match the natural color of your teeth and fit your mouth perfectly. The result: a renewed smile and strong teeth.

Manufacturing and placement process with CEREC

Many patients are impressed by the speed and comfort of CEREC treatment. Here's how it works:

First, the tooth is prepared as for a traditional crown. Instead of taking a physical impression with paste, the dentist uses an intraoral scanner that captures a 3D digital image of the tooth.
The model is then used to design the restoration using computer software. The design is adjusted to ensure a perfect fit and natural appearance. Once approved, the plan is sent to a milling unit that carves the piece from a block of ceramic.

The restoration is then polished, tried in the mouth, adjusted if necessary, and cemented permanently in place. All this is done in a single appointment.

The CEREC system offers several concrete advantages for patients who want fast, comfortable, and aesthetic treatment:

  • One appointment: The restoration is designed, manufactured, and fitted on site in a single visit, saving you a second appointment and the need to wear a temporary crown.
  • More comfort: The impression is taken using an intraoral camera, without unpleasant paste, for a more pleasant experience.
  • Aesthetic results: Ceramic restorations are durable, metal-free, and blend naturally with your teeth.
  • Precision and durability: Digital technology ensures a perfect fit and excellent longevity of the restoration.

At Dr. Wayne Dionne Dental Clinic in Edmundston, we are pleased to offer this modern technology that combines efficiency, comfort, and aesthetics. Don't hesitate to consult us to find out if CEREC is the ideal solution for you.
